  • Course Description
    This course is designed for system administrators and end-users that are new to the Linux or UNIX operating systems. On this course delegates will learn the basic skills required to use their own Red Hat Linux systems. This course shows delegates how to accomplish basic tasks such as creating, organising and removing files, using the GNOME interface and text editors, printing and setting file/directory permissions. Delegates learn to accomplish these tasks through the command line and graphical interfaces.

    This course is designed to teach basic Linux user skills. It covers both command line and GUI interfaces as well as installing and setting up a Linux workstation.

    Course pre-requisites:
    Students must have an understanding of operating system functionality and concepts. Experience with DOS or UNIX is helpful. No prior Linux knowledge is required.

    The Oracle 10g release has greatly enhanced the features and functionality of PL/SQL. Students will learn the fundamentals of the PL/SQL programming language. Students will write stored procedures, functions, packages, and triggers, and implement complex business rules in Oracle. Students will learn programming, management, and security issues of working with PL/SQL program units.     Develop the key fundamental skills necessary to be an Oracle DBA. Delegates will design and create a server using the Optimal Flexible Architecture (OFA), configure logical and physical structures, set up database and user security, add and administer users, and monitor and tune main server areas. Each student will create a toolkit of administration scripts for database management and tuning by the end of this class. This class will also address issues for DBAs having to support Oracle8i and Oracle9i databases.
